Kendrick Welcomes Us to the New Age

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards put on a spectacular event giving credit where credit is indeed due to artists of all genres. Deserving artists received their awards and performances by some of the top musicians of the year was the icing on the cake. Beyonce hit the stage to entertain and a surprise performance by Paul McCartney and The Beatles definitely gave fans a rush; but probably the most talked about and loved performance of the night had to go to Imagine Dragons featuring Kendrick Lamar.

This mix and mash of Hip-Hop and Rap was the shocker of the night as lead singer of Imagine Dragons, Dan Reynolds opened up with an acapella version of his bands hit song "Radioactive" that transitioned into Kendrick's infamous song "M.A.A.D. City". The mix of Rock and Rap was hard, in your face and brought to life by the all-white outfits, live drum banging and electric light-show put on by these artists. The show also included Kendrick's verse for the Remix to "Radioactive" that included fast paced bangs and a grand finale by the K.Dot.

The Kendrick-Dragons show is somewhat similar to that of Jay Z and Linkin Park's "Numb/Encore" song that opened the door to mixing genres and showing the world a new side and sound to music. Breaking the mold and inventing new sounds is what artists do best and the sound within this performance at the Grammys was music to my ears (and apparently many others). Imagine Dragons left the award show with an award for Best Rock Performance and Kendrick Lamar was nominated for Best Rap Album of the Year.
