Only twice I can recall a performer/artist has blessed the athletic stage of the Espys as a host; those two being Jamie Foxx and Justin Timberlake. But ESPN believes third times the charm as they've decided to declare rap sensation Drake the official host for the event this year.
If people know drake behind the music they'd know that he:
- is a sports fanatic
- is a global ambassador for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment
- was an actor before the music (so hosting maybe come a little easier to him than other artists)
All in all Drake is just as excited as the ESPN world was about the decision. He was quoted as saying "This is an incredible opportunity for me to combine two of my biggest passions—sports and performing,”.
The big event airs July 16 at 9p.m. from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles
